The Kansas 4-H SpaceTech experience is a 4-H program focusing on 4-H space technology and 4-H science, engineering and technology issues (4-H SET). The experience is headed up by the Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Action Team that is a group of Kansas 4-H youths, aged 14-18, adult volunteer 4-H leaders, 4-H parents, Extension staff and other enthusiasts.
The experience concentrates in the core issues of astronomy, aviation, robotics, rocketry, technology and GPS/GIS (Geospatial Global Positioning and Geographic Information System). The SpaceTech experience is accomplished through multi-county/area trainings, as well as collaborating with the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson to provide hands-on programs and technology experiences for 4-H members and families.
The Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Action Team schedules trainings based on needs of counties and districts. In 2008, the action team presented trainings in Hays and in Holton. Future trainings are pending, and will be listed as they are scheduled and organized. For more information, contact Deryl Waldren at 785-462-6281 or e-mail him at dwaldren@ksu.edu.
